St Xavier’s College - 150th Year, Inaugural Mass
Inaugural mass celebrated by Cardinal Oswald Gracias on 29th Dec 2018
The Sesquicentennial celebrations at St Xavier's College were opened with a solemn Eucharist on 29th Dec 2018. The mass was celebrated in the heritage Fr Palacios Hall on the Xavier's campus by His Eminence Cardinal Oswald Gracias. The mass was well attended, by teachers, former students, friends and of course many Jesuits. We had with us the oldest living former principal of St Xavier's, Fr John Misquitta SJ, among others. The Cardinal in his homily highlighted the stellar role the college has played in the lives of so many people down these 150 years of its existence. Fr Keith D'Souza SJ, the Rector of the College, and later the Cardinal as well urged all in the crowd to stay radically close to the vision of Xavier's, which is: Professional Innovation, Personal Transformation, and Social Inclusion. In all it was a very meaningful beginning to the year long celebration.
The 150 year celebrations at St Xavier’s College, Mumbai, have begun with this Opening mass. The year ahead is going to be a tribute to the great legacy and heritage of Xavier’s. Don’t miss out on what’s happening. If you’ve been a Xavierite, you’ve just got to be connected to this Jubilee celebration in some way.
