Around the Province: Nov & Dec 2018
So much is happening around the province that it is difficult to keep a tab on things.
The Shirpur mission will soon bring to a close its Golden Jubilee Year (1968-2018) with a Eucharist and a programme on 19 January 2019 at 11am. Among its year-long activities has been an Adivasi Utsav (an assertion of tribal identity with all its richness of culture).
Events for the youth and for kids have been in great store in Manickpur, Uplat, Talasari, Manor and Shirpur. On 8 November the Uplat youth organised a Diwali sports Dhamaka. This was fiercely contested.
Many Uplat and Talasari youth went for a youth convention to Vasai from 7th to 10th November. The topic of the convention was ‘Faith & Morality through Jesus and Mary.’
The AICUF students (YES camp) of St Xavier’s College had a very enriching immersion programme in the villages of Uplat and Talasari.
Fr Linus at Manor has been organising Bal Melawas and various other programmes.
Frs Joaquim Tellis and Yohan Alphonso organised a training camp for 13 primary teachers and 4 supervisors at MPSM, Nashik.

The Diamond Jubilee celebrations of St Xavier’s High School, Manmad, continue through different activities. Most notable are the series of sharings the Jesuits have had on their mission there today.
St Xavier’s High School (Fort)as part of its GO GREEN initiative has inaugurated a Solar Energy Plant to cater to the school’s electricity requirements. The 35 kilowatts plant will generate 54,000 units of electricity per annum and help in shaving off Rs Four lakhs from the school electricity bill.
Meanwhile Campion school, Fort, has successfully celebrated its Platinum Jubilee (2017-2018). Wishing them well for the years ahead!
